    (
    The are still in the original containers, unopened, we did not unpack the few we have remaining. They are a bit dirty on the outside and
    will probably have a few stains on the edges when opened
    )
    Drogue parachutes were used to drop massages, supplies,  deploy larger parachutes and inflate them quickly. Parachute is un-opened and in Mint Condition, and would make a great WWII collectible. The round containers they are packed in measure 2-1/4" Diameter by 1-1/4" Tall

    Cool History
    The first Nylon parachutes were manufactures by the PIONEER PARACHUTE Co. of Manchester Conn. The first ever
    descent with a Nylon canopy was made on June 6th, 1942 by their parachute rigger Adeline Gray, yes a woman, rare at that time. She carried out the test before 50 military officials confirming th safety of their new nylon material and design.
    At the time she was the only female licensed parachute jumper in Connecticut. She worked at Pioneer Parachute as a senior rigger, and ultimately became head of their rigging department. She was known for her parachute jumps at air shows across the country. After her famous jump, Ms. Gray became an advertising icon for Camel Cigarettes. The advertisements in LIFE magazine featured pictures of her historical live test of the parachute, and encouraged readers to test Camel cigarettes.
    With U.S. Military approvals, all parachute manufacturers began using nylon fabric. Nylon became the popular choice, as it has excellent wind resistance, good elasticity, mildew resistance, and is comparatively cheaper. The material is also lightweight and dries quickly. It is resistant to abrasion and chemicals. These  parachutes  were made of either nylon twill or ripstop nylon. Ripstop Nylon fabric for parachutes is woven in a specialized manner with extra thick threads to create a pattern of small squares. When tears occur in the canopy, this structure squares prevent the tears from becoming bigger & stops small rips from spreading.

    About Us
    Md Architectural Rescue is a different type of recycling company. We have operated in
    Baltimore
    and surrounding areas since 1996. After starting out rescuing fireplace mantles and cast iron door locks from construction dumpsters, we have opened our eyes to may types of waste that are often over looked and fall through the cracks. Our focus is and always will be vintage items of the highest quality. But with our eyes now open we put a lot of effort in bringing you high end collectibles from every industry available and at a very reasonable price. All our items are salvaged and are for the most part American Made. One week we could be in an old School, Brewery, Factory, and the following week at a  Shipyard or Power plant, you just never know. Also, one day we may be removing Vintage lighting, the next day Signs and Vintage blueprints and the following day cleaning out a machine shop or high end parts room. We literally have NO idea what we have coming around corner, so make sure you add us to your favorites and check back often.
    We also run two additional stores. If you are looking for unique and interesting glass pieces, check out our sister site
