Description
This 'MOON' style aircraft wheel cover was used on many military and civilian aircraft between 1942 and 1968. It was generally used on retractable gear planes whose wheels didn't retract fully into the wing or fuselage like the Boeing B-17, the Curtis P-36, the Northrop SBD Dauntless, and many other aircraft. The wheel cover or 'hubcap' would fit many aircraft with wheels 28 to 30 inches in diameter. All The aircraft shown in the in the photo that shows aircraft using this style of hubcap had wheel diameters of between 28 and 30 inches. I have 2 of these hubcaps left. I had 4, but sold one to an artist who painted a B-17 on the hubcap, and I am keeping one for my personal collection. This wheel cover requires a very large box for shipping which makes it fairly expensive to ship, in spite of the fact that the wheel cover itself is very light in weight.Note: This item will cost me about to ship.
