    Description

This mantle is taken from the 1871 Butterick Pattern Catalog.
It has a semi fitted back, held in place by a belt around the waist, with pleats and slits to fit over a bustle.
The front is also belted and has two points.
The mantle sides fall gracefully over the arm to give a "flowing sleeve" effect.
A pointed collar add detail to the neckline.
The center front is closed with buttons.
This pattern provides for a fully lined garment, and can be interlined with flannel for warmth. Frog closures can be substituted in place of buttons.
