    Description

Presented here is a very scarce WW2 era U.S. Navy torpedo gyro, probably a MK12, Mod 1, 2, or 3, or possibly a MK14. This was probably manufactured by the Sperry Corp between 1943, and the mid 1950s. It was probably created as a presentation piece, since there are no stamped serial numbers or other identifying nomenclature. Device is made from high grade stainless steel and brass. The patina has been left as is, and could likely be shined up, as the new owner might wish. A green felt is already present, indicating that it was probably used as a décor/display feature, or perhaps a desk paperweight. Gyro comes as pictured, and does not include the mounting box, or shipping crate. The MK12/14 were steam driven torpedos used extensively by U.S. submarines, destroyers, PT boats, and some aircraft. This is a highly desirable artifact from the WW2 era.
