Fishing boat collides with Navy warship off Goa coast, 2 fishermen missing

A fishing boat with 13 crew members collided with an Indian Navy warship about 70 nautical miles off the Goa coast. So far, 11 crew members have been rescued, with a search operation underway for two missing fishermen.
Following the collision between the warship and the fishing boat ‘Marthoma’ on Thursday night, naval authorities launched an immediate search and rescue operation in coordination with the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) in Mumbai.
It has also deployed six ships and aircraft in the area.
The Indian Coast Guard has also redirected additional resources to aid the naval operation.
The cause of the collision is yet to be ascertained.
“Search and rescue efforts for the remaining two are underway. Additional assets have been diverted to the area to augment the efforts,” news agency PTI quoted a Navy spokesperson as saying.
The Navy has ordered a high-level investigation into the incident.
